Talmuseum Ursern

The Ursern Valley Museum is located in one of the most beautiful patrician buildings of the Ursern Valley. The building was built in 1786 by Franz Dominik Nager, the valley chamberlain. The spacious residential and commercial building served as headquarters for the Russian field marshal Suworow on September 25, 1799, which is why the valley population subsequently referred to it as the "Suworow House".

State room from the 18th century

The present valley museum was built according to a building scheme characteristic for patrician houses in the second half of the 18th century. The interior of the building is unique. In late Baroque style, the paneling, doors and furniture are coordinated. The core of the museum is the living culture around 1780/1800 with the state room. In addition, the following topics are presented in the permanent exhibition: History of the valley and culture, tourism, military, alpine economy and muleteers as well as a natural history cabinet. Furthermore, a room is dedicated to the Olympic champion Bernhard Russi from Ursch. Temporary exhibitions are presented on the first floor.
