The Bielen saw is an impressively functioning sawmill from 1850 with a wooden water wheel (diameter 3.5 x 1 m). The saw is driven by the Hinterschächen torrent. About 2500 liters of water per minute flow through a wooden water channel. With this, stately tree trunks can be sawn up to this day. The mechanics, similar to a giant clockwork, allow old things to be rediscovered. Impressive is also the sawmill with hipped roof building, granite fountain from 1870 hewn by an Italian stonemason and a granite millstone from 1780.
An exhibition informs about woodworking tools of that time. Temporary exhibitions present information about the Klausen race, life in the Schächen valley and General Suworow's Alpine campaign. If required, the original timing system for the international Klausen Race from 1922 to 1934 can be installed and presented. The installation is an amazing invention of almost 100 years ago and is unique in Europe.
The use of the picnic area and the covered fireplace is only possible by prior arrangement (not a public facility). The picnic area may only be used after registration with the Bielen-Säge Foundation.
